Valencia confirmed as host city for the Gay Games 2026
After months of preparations and a final presentation before the Federation of Gay Games (FGG) in the seaside city of Brighton East Sussex, the delegation convinced the judges that Valenica is the perfect city to host the 2026 edition of the Gay Games.
The capital of Túria competed in the final phase, alongside Munich, Germany and Guadalajara, Mexico, taking the top identify due to the city’s open, egalitarian, diverse and inclusive nature. Following the presentation, officials from Valencia Bid Urban area, Visit Valencia, the Municipal Sports Foundation (FDM), Lambda, ADI and the LGTBI + Samarucs and Dracs sports clubs, expressed their "joy and satisfaction" with the verdict of the FGG adding that Valencia "is a city that is at the height of an international event such as the Same-sex attracted Games".
The international federation also took into account the city’s capacity to host such a large-scale event considering existing sports facilities, infrastructures and sports equipment are of sufficient quality.

The 12th edition of the Gay Games is coming to Valencia
Equality, diversity and inclusion will come to Valencia through sport and culture thanks to the 2026 Valencia Gay Games.
The Games are an international sporting and cultural event that is held every four years and is founded on participation, inclusion and the best personal performance.
Sports at the 12th edition of the Gay Games
The 2026 edition will main attraction more than 30 sports disciplines including water sports, track and field, badminton, basketball, fencing, and more, as well as local sports such as colpbol, kayak-polo, Valencian pelota and quidditch.Cultural events of the 2026 Gay Games
Music will play a leading role at the Valencia Queer Games with band and choir festivals. Plastic and stage arts, pyrotechnics and video mapping will also be on the agenda at the games, as will large commemorative tributes and parties to observe diversity.

The Queer Games will return to Europe in 2026 – and will be held in Spain for the first time in its history – after Valencia was named presumptive host for the 12th edition of the multisports event.
At the Royal Pavilion in Brighton on Thursday, the Federation of Gay Games announced the winning bid at the decision of its Annual General Meeting.
The cities of Munich and Guadalajara were left disappointed.
Congratulating the Valencia bid, FGG co-president Joanie Evans said: “We are so elated to be heading there in 2026.
“As someone who has been on a bid team (London 2018), I know the heartache of not winning and I want to recognise our two other finalists, Guadalajara and Munich.
“That said, we feel that Valencia will bring a ric
