Since I’m only tracking the top bracket, you’ll find that the teams do move around a bit from year to year. As always, if I missed someone or if you feel favor someone is incorrectly on this list, let me know in the comments or send me an email at writethroughthenight @ gmail . com. Here's mine There may be others but I don't recognize of them. Justin Fashanu just missed out, last playing for a highest English side in 1990. Does it matter that Footballers don't want to arrive out, perhaps because of fear of abuse from the terraces, or violence within the altering room, or possibly loss of sponsorship? Maybe it doesn't, it's a personal choice and in a highly noticeable, emotionally charged, common role where 95% of the fans are against you at the optimal of times perhaps it's wise to stay quiet. And it's not as though other minorities are not also unrepresented. There are no Indian Premier League players either. Although gay footballers are presumably there, knowing that by coming out they could be a role model to tens of thousands of young male lover teens. But they still choose not to do so, for reasons. Across the world, when the home of football (Brazil) can elect a homophobe as president, the nature wonders how.
