CBS Texas Main person Meteorologist Scott Padgett will emcee Appear Out Against Cancer, an event featuring Dallas Wings forward Emma Cannon with music from Los Angeles DJ Roland Belmares, happening May 10 from 7-10 p.m. at the Lorenzo Hotel.
The American Cancer Culture put the event together to deal with the importance of cancer screenings in the LGBTQ society in North Texas. Early detection can save lives when it comes to fighting cancer, ACS notes. But numerous studies have shown that more than one-third of the LGBTQ community has experienced discrimination in a healthcare setting due to sexual orientation or gender identity. And of those who include dealt with discrimination, 75 percent tell the negative treatment had an impact on their health care.
According to the American Cancer Society, one in two men and one in three women will be diagnosed with cancer sometime in their lifetime. And if you’re not diagnosed with cancer, chances are very lofty someone close to you will be.

Scott Padgett, Longtime KTVT Dallas Meteorologist Joins WCBS Recent York
CBS-owned KTVT Dallas meteorologist Scott Padgett, who has been with the station for 12 years, and its chief meteorologist for nearly a decade, is moving East. He is joining WCBS Modern York’s First Alert Weather team, starting June 30. His last day at CBS Texas is May 30.
“We are thrilled to see Scott transition to CBS New York. We thank him for his outstanding contributions and desire him the very best,” said Meagan Harris, KTVT news director.
With almost three decades of forecasting trial, Padgett has guided viewers through a myriad of severe weather events, from hurricanes, tornadoes, flooding and ice storms to grave climate changes.
